Fall Season 2026 Audition Information

FALL 2026 INFO MEETING SIGN IN 

​ALL STUDENTS: These items must be completed BEFORE your audition/interview takes place, otherwise we cannot let you continue in the process.

• Register & pay the District 279 participation fee for the Fall Musical on EduTrack. 
• Complete the Audition/Interview packet paperwork. You will need to print a copy of the packet to bring with you to your interview/audition. Please KEEP pages 1 & 2 for yourself and hand in the rest of the pages to us. The packet has now been condensed into one for both show titles compared to my last email which had two separate packets. For easy viewing, please use this one. The packet includes:
• CONFLICT CALENDAR: Students will fill out a calendar for BOTH SHOWS to let us know of unavoidable conflicts they have during the rehearsal process. If you already know you have too many conflicts and can only audition for one show, please let us know by marking that on your calendar. It is expected that each student auditions for BOTH titles unless they have legitimate conflicts. By self selecting yourself to only audition for one title, that does not automatically mean you will be cast in that title. 

NOTE: There are also no conflict dates when ALL STUDENTS involved in that production need to be present for ALL REHEARSALS. Please block off these dates on your personal/family calendar. 

• SIGNATURE/AGREEMENTS PAGE: Students and parents/guardians will read and agree to the conditions for participation in the show. Please read carefully. 
• Fill out the Online Application (Google form). Let’s aim for 100% student completion this time! Don’t make us track you down! Be responsible for what you need to do!

PIT ORCHESTRA: Please sign up for the Schoology course: VKM6-RRMS-TVRXW in order to get information from Mr. Buller and Mr. Schroeder and to submit your audition. If you are someone who is considering being Cast in one show and Pit for another, make sure to audition! There are a lot of new opportunities this year with producing 2 show titles. 

TECH/WARDROBE CREWS: Sign up for an interview time slot on Sept. 9th or 10th.  

• Note that the 3:30-3:45p time slot on each day is for students who would like to hold leadership roles on their tech team (this is different from our season captains). The earlier time slots are for students who are interested in being on any of the teams.
• Once again, if you have always wondered what it would be like to be part of the wardrobe crew, complete an interview and tell us why you might be interested in Wardrobe for one title and Cast for the next!
  
  

CAST: Sign up for an audition time slot on Aug. 31st or Sept. 1st (or the make-up date on Sept. 8th).

• Prepare for your vocal/acting audition: You will complete both your singing audition and your monologue at this time. Choose any contemporary, comedic monologue and select a song using the following criteria:
• Time length: 60-90 seconds (we will stop you after 90 seconds so that we can stay on schedule). In the real world, directors will often specify for an audition song cut to be about 16-32 bars/measures long.
• Style: Anything similar to the songs found in either The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee or Mean Girls: The Teen Edition. We are looking for students who can act through song and who are not afraid to be goofy. Consider which character(s) you are auditioning for and select something that fits accordingly.
• Follow the instructions here to upload your sheet music to our Google Drive. It is important to give our accompanist time to practice your music, so we encourage you to upload it at least a couple of days in advance. If you wait until the last minute, the accompanist may be sight-reading! Set yourself up for success by being prepared with your sheet music! We hope that most of you will take the time to select your own song for auditions. 
  • In the event that’s not possible, you may sing from the song "I See Stars". Our accompanist will be prepared to play it. 
  • We also hope that most of you will take the time to select your own monologue. In that event that’s not possible, you may present one of the following options found in this document: Character Descriptions. 
  • Your audition song and monologue should be memorized!

• Learn the audition choreography: Here are the links to learn the audition dance prepared for you by Ruby Brisco. The different links will walk you through step-by-step and then perform the combination for you with music. Please come with this prepared and ready to perform for us on the day of your initial audition. We will not be teaching it to you on the day of.
